There have always been crappy games that aren't worth $60, but sliding the price up when we're getting total duds like Starfield in this horrendous economy is honestly awful

Obviously this varies from title to title and dev company to dev company, but many "AAA" releases are littered with bugs on launch, missing content on release that is later sold as DLC a couple of months later, or just outright bad

80 dollar games would be a much easier pill to swallow if I knew that it meant the people who actually make the game are getting the extra money. But they very likely are not

There's also the fact that many full price games that release these days often do not justify their cost

I agree that developers should be paid more, but the reason they are underpaid is NOT because of the ballooning cost of game dev (though it is growing), it's the CEOs who have nothing to do with the actual production of the game hoarding the lion's share of profits for themselves + mass layoffs

My favorite is when I go to a subreddit SPECIFICALLY for a certain program and ask “Hey I’m having a hard time doing this one thing with this program, could I have some help?”

And some chucklefuck chimes in with “Just use this other program it’s way better.”

Makes me want to rip my hair out
