Dans leurs recueil de photos, Heidi et Nicolas évoquent les 9 années de leur voyage autour du monde en voilier. Chaque ouvrage a pour fil rouge un thème : les îles, les ports, et peut-être d'autres encore.

Boat resting over the winter, brain already planning 2026.
Ready4Sea to-do list turns "safety/reliability/comfort" ideas into prioritized tasks. Share with crew/yard. Better projects, not more.

Tropics over year-end holidays? UV + salt + heat = trouble. Checklists catch it: pre-launch engines/bilges, underway corrosion, anchor mooring/power. Ready4Sea is reliability in harsh conditions.

Scrolling Christmas photos? Sofa downtime over the holidays is great for storing boat haul-out pics, house boiler service, RV tire checks in Ready4Sea now. One app = organized maintenance for all assets. No more "where did that photo go?" moments in 2026!

Advent toolbox, December 24: the Headlamp. Fix things in the engine bay, bilge or on deck at night with both hands free and your light always where you’re looking.

Tip: Lighter models are great for wearing repeatedly. A more powerful model will come in handy at times.

Merry Christmas to all! ✨

Advent toolbox day 23: Cable cutter. Cuts a damaged shroud or stay cleanly in an emergency. Can protect the rig and make the situation manageable.

Tip: Keep it accessible and sized for your rigging diameter. A cutter too deep in a locker, or that’s too small, won’t help when seconds count.

Advent calendar toolbox day 22: Torx bits. Tackle the star‑shaped screws increasingly found on deck hardware and electronics.

Tip: Always choose the exact size. Push firmly into the screw before turning. Forcing the wrong bit will round it off.

Need a last‑minute Christmas idea for a boater? A Ready4Sea subscription gives a year of quieter mind: organised maintenance plan, safety and haul‑out checklists, logbooks and documents in one place. Not as shiny as a new gadget on day one, but still doing its job on day 300.

Advent toolbox day 21: Wire/Side cutters. Snip cable ties, trim wires and cut small pins or rings cleanly.

Tip: Keep them for metal and hard plastics only. Using side cutters on rope or very hard materials will dull the cutting edge much faster.

Day 20 Advent Calendar: the Putty knife. Strips off old sealant, paint or stubborn grime so the surface is clean.

Tip: Thicker blades are suitable for scraping while thiner, more flexible blades work best for spreading spackle or putty.

Advent calendar toolbox day 19: locking pliers (vise-grip). Clamp, hold or twist stubborn parts when you don’t have a 3rd hand on board.

Tip: Adjust the screw so they grip firmly without crushing the part, and release them after use. Storing them fully tightened can weaken the mechanism over time.

Advent calendar toolbox day 18: Calipers. Check hose and pipe diameters, identify "mystery" bolts, measure plywood thicknesses and shaft or anode sizes.

Tip: Learn to read the Vernier scale. It turns "roughly this size" into precise measurements you can trust when ordering spares.

Day 17 of our Advent calendar toolbox: Scissors. Cutting sailcloth patches, tarp material or zip ties.

Tip: Cut with a smooth motion, using the entire blade, and pivot the fabric rather than the scissors.

Day 16 of our Advent calendar toolbox: the File. Deburr rough edges on metal parts after cutting or drilling.

Tip: Depending on the side used, a half-round file can both work on flat and curved surfaces. Also works on hard plastics.

- ouvrez Ready4Sea
- ajoutez-le dans les documents de votre bateau.

🇦🇺🇳🇿 Summer on the water is almost here. Is your boat ready?
Now’s the time to sort the boring essentials before you tow to the ramp: valid rego, lifejackets for everyone, in-date flares and a registered beacon where required.

Day 14 of our Advent calendar toolbox: the Hammer. Nails are uncommon aboard, but used subtly, a hammer will help unseize parts or adjust alignments. Can you think of other uses?

Tip: Use a sacrificial wooden block/board to avoid damaging surfaces.

Day 13 of our Advent calendar toolbox: the Hot knife. Seals the end of lines by melting the fibers together.

Tip: Terminating your lines so they don't fray is best done by first wrapping some tape around the line and cutting through the tape.

Day 12 of our Advent calendar toolbox: the Utility knife. Trims canvas, rope, tape, and insulation.

Tip: Make sure you retract the blade as soon as you're done cutting. Accidents easily occur on a boat. Better be safe than sorry!

11th day of our Advent calendar toolbox: the Socket wrench set. Reliably comes to grips with bolts and nuts in limited spaces.

Tip: Invest in a good quality set (metric or SAE) and take good care of it. It might become your favorite tool for tightening and loosening screws.
