Star Trek Thought of the Day (Jan 5):
Happy New Year! Try as I might, I cannot think of one character from Star Trek that has inspired as much ire in my heart as The Orville's Klyden. You?

Star Trek Thought of the Day (Dec 26): Sometimes, Trek technology could be very easy to bypass. Just watched Reg Barclay do it when he wanted to gain access to Pathfinder's holodeck and Seven did it when she wanted to access Janeway's logs. Just move a few isolinear chips around. That oughta do it.

Star Trek Thought of the Day (Dec 16): is there room for Saint Nick and Christmas in the Star Trek Universe?

Star Trek Thought of the Day (Dec 15): Hundreds of episodes of Star Trek over the years and not one plate of spaghetti? (And no, I don’t count that revolting hair pasta of Neelix’s)

Star Trek Thought of the Day (Dec 13): My laptop unexpectedly died and I lost a lot of stuff - but she's in a better place now. I was through the wringer emotionally: anger, frustration, rage, helplessness, regret, melancholy. I have new respect for starship crews that dealt with tech malfunctions.

Star Trek Thought of the Day (Dec 10): I'm rather keen on the Douwd—an immortal race of nearly omnipotent but not omniscient beings of disguises and false surroundings. They could take the form of other races and live as one of them. I could be one and you wouldn't know...

Star Trek Thought of the Day (Dec 9): Best line from TNG novel: Imzadi - when asked at a traditional Betazoid wedding (IYKYK) why human males were so hairy, Lt Will Riker replies with one word:

"Traction."

Star Trek Thought of the Day (Dec 8): I know that "new Trek" sometimes gets an awful press, but I have to admit that I'm really looking forward to the Section 31 movie filum.

Deltans, Chameloids, and Cheronians, oh my!
December 8, 2024 at 3:56 PM
Star Trek Thought of the Day (Dec 4): I loved being delighted by Trek guest actors who performed wonderfully. One that stands out is Sandra Nelson's Marayna, the lonely alien who used the holodeck to interact with Voyager's crew. I thought it was actually two different actors.
December 6, 2024 at 4:19 AM
Star Trek Thought of the Day (Dec 5): I have my fair share of unpopular Trek opinions. Here's one now: I thought Avery Brook's chilling portrayal of Joran during Dax's zhian'tara was inconsistent with the character's previous and subsequent portrayals. Choices.

Star Trek Thought of the Day (Dec 3): I sometimes wonder if any of these Voyager crew members got any better at their jobs.

Star Trek Thought of the Day (Dec 2 - belated): Former Borg Marika Wilkarah gets a gold star for her "It tastes like a bird I once ate" line - a Borg take on "It tastes like chicken." (BTW why didn't anyone on Voyager notice that a random Bajoran was in the Delta Quadrant?)

Star Trek Thought of the Day (Dec 1): As a kid, I used to write down/draw my ideas for superheroes, mystery stories, and Star Trek. Star Trek stole my ideas on more than one occasion. Latest indignity: I created a series about Star Fleet Academy! Who had access to my cahiers?

Star Trek Thought of the Day (Nov 30): I will admit that I struggled with Discovery. I found it so fraught with emotional moments that I thought I was watching "This is Us in Space". Still, I would rather have flawed Trek than no Trek at all because...well, it's Trek!
December 1, 2024 at 1:41 AM
Star Trek Thought of the Day (Nov 29): I think I'm rather gutted that Shazad Latif (Ash Tyler/Voq) will not be in the Section 31 film. I was rather fond if I'm honest.

Star Trek Thought of the Day (Nov 28): Did you know that Hilary Shepard Turner who played enthusiastic aerobics instructor Yvonne (sufferer of an ill-timed charlie horse) on The Golden Girls also appeared on DS9 as both genetically engineered Lauren and ill-fated Ensign Hoya?

Star Trek Thought of the Day (Nov 26): Ever since I was a wain, I've always admired the sci-fi creativity of Star Trek writers, FX people, designers etc. And the hair stylists. Especially the hair stylists! You know what they say, "The higher the hair, the closer to Q."
November 27, 2024 at 12:46 AM
Star Trek Thought of the Day (Nov 25): I have come to admire the Nebula Class starship and its successor, the Sutherland Class. A lovely friend of mine jokingly referred to the Nebula as Starfleet's 'hatchback' and I quite agree! Thanks for the metaphor, @ZoeKirkRobinson!

Star Trek Thought of the Day (Nov 24): On a scale of one to ten, how wrong was it of me to spend so much of my teens thinking about this individual?

Star Trek Thought of the Day (Nov 23): I appreciated how Star Trek recognized talent and asked good actors back to take on different roles. Fionnula Flanagan played an old flame of Curzon Dax, one of T'Pol's role models, and Data's mum!
November 24, 2024 at 12:07 AM
Star Trek Thought of the Day (Nov 22): When I see Kira's look for the first episode of DS9, it suggests that she was given Ro's hairdo (Michelle Forbes was the original choice for that role). As if all Bajoran women wear their hair the same.

Star Trek thought of the day (November 21): McCoy’s appearance on the series debut of TNG was important and touching. That said, I kept thinking about how skinny his legs looked in those bell-bottomed trousers. static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/i...

Star Trek Thought of the Day (Nov 20)
I have always thought it unfair that Janeway seemed to seek out and value the judgment/counsel/advice of Tuvok and then Seven of Nine over that of her First Officer Chakotay. If I had been him, I'd have marched straight to HR. There, I said it!
