This memory bubble details the fall of the governing Union of the Galaxy, and details that MANY planets had been wiped out, but not ALL. The humiliation was the last act of ravaging the Galaxy before, presumably, the army moved on.

// Since I've seen this circling again I want to clarify very quickly given the state of Ratio theories going around NO. I do NOT think Ratio was alive during Emperor Rupert's time. The Galaxy was not completely destroyed in the war therefore planets did still exist.

+ Bonus! Professor Rond, who was the individual that gave Ratio his university recommendation, signs his letter off with a date marked by the Philosopher Calendar.

The Philosopher's Union; that essentially acted as a governing body of sorts, comes from the Laurel Wreath Galaxy!

WELL. Thats about the long end of it, I have a ton of thoughts about Ratio as a character and he makes me utterly feral to pick apart and analyze.
So I do apologize if this wasn't very organized or made sense 😭 but I hope it was a nice read all the same!!

Ratio only selfishly hoped that, perhaps, a glance from Nous would mean that all his efforts were not wasted, in those silent moments of doubt and self-loathing.
Has he accomplished enough? Is he doing what is right?

Is Veritas Ratio enough?

One cannot rely on Nous.
Humanity can only strive to save itself.
He would never want an Aeon to take pity on humanity, however.

Why he would never be considered for the Genius Society.
Are the aspirations of an entire galaxy not enough for an Aeon to take notice... truly, the gods must not care about the plights of humanity to shine a light in the darkness to guide the weary and the ignorant.

...I wonder just how it feels. To carry the weight of an entire galaxy's hopes, dreams, and aspirations on your back.
Everything Ratio does, he does for humanity's sake.
Perhaps that is why Ratio was so heavily disheartened at the notion he would never draw Nous' gaze.

Of course, there's also the very obvious symbolic themes and design motifs that parallel the greco-roman aesthetic and inspiration behind the Galaxy and Ratio's appearance. The most obvious being, naturally, the laurel hairpin Ratio wears.

This phrasing is practically what Ratio says himself, constantly. Perhaps... A sentiment that he now carries from his ancestors who can no longer continue the work he now strives for?

PLUS. If we take the first part of the curio's description as, lets say, a mindset shared by those in the Laurel Wreath Galaxy:

[ "Supposing that "stupidity" is an incurable disease..."] - Curio
Vs
["To cure the disease known as ignorance." ] - Ratio

Ratio was so heralded as a genius to the degree he is, not only because he came from a civilization and culture that cradles and cherishes knowledge; but because he holds the hope of an entire galaxy on his shoulders in revitalizing what makes a "true scholar".

and now... this mere child is observed to be advanced enough in academics and intellectualism to the utter notion of being able to attend prestigious university when he was MIDDLE SCHOOL AGE.
He is also said to be incredibly renowned in his home-world.

UNCOUNTABLE NUMBERS of scholars died during the conflict. An entire galaxy's worth.

Now; this is where Ratio comes into play, many years after this conflict. Ratio is a genius born to a galaxy that lost so many promising scholars, lost their geniuses...

We know that the Laurel Wreath Galaxy was an unfortunate casualty during the Emperor Rubert Wars; in which mechanical lifeforms would invade the galaxy, slaughtering the members of the Philosopher's Union as shown in this Memory Bubble:
// also added reference to who Aurelius is historically!

First off, you will need the context of the curio Rationality's Fall; which gives a small amount of insight into the Laurel Wreath Galaxy itself:

Like, where DID this man so passionate about truth and knowledge even hail from in the first place? Well... I have a whole theory, and some introspection cooked up about it that I've held onto for months but... sharing things scary so! Here we go...
