I haven't really done much on here, but chatting with @kelseybogan.bsky.social has made me give it another try. We were reminiscing about how powerful we found Twitter. That's where we first "met" along with so many other people who have built my PLN...maybe I'll give this another shot.

I discovered Phil Vischer's (co creator of Veggie Tales) podcast today. It's about pop culture with a Christian viewpoint. I started at the beginning, which was 2012, and the most interesting part is how different things were then. It's nostalgia, but for a time less than 15 years ago.

Freedom of the press is so important it's in the first amendment. We're already losing it. No matter which side of the political divide on which you sit, you want freedom of the press and freedom of speech. Every voice silenced is a loss for America. #ProtectMyPublicMedia

I listened to the @slupodcast.bsky.social ep. about this book recently, ordered it immediately, and it arrived today! Congrats to @mangalibrarian.bsky.social and @juliestivers.bsky.social and the other authors I don't know! I can't wait to bring more intentional manga into my new high school space!

Day 7 as a high school librarian and I've got my first lesson request! The library may be closed for testing, but I'll be visiting a Civics class to cover some much needed media literacy, which is baked into their standards. Yay!

It's hard to move schools mid-year but, even though it's only been 5 days, I'm thankful for kind coworkers who take the time to make me feel welcome. I sent out my first weekly newsletter this afternoon and this response took the Sunday scaries away.

The library was only open 1 day last week and kids hung out during all 4 lunches! Consider buying a little something for them to play or craft when they stop by. Help me help them put the phones down (notice I didn't say away...I'm not aiming that high yet🤣).

My first week as a high school librarian is complete! I created my first display of brand new books that I found in storage (you never know what you'll find! I also found a fun keyboard!). I listened to @slupodcast.bsky.social while working because what else would I listen to?

On January 27th I will no longer be a middle school librarian...but I will be a high school librarian for the first time! I'm excited and scared. I need some things so I don't leave my current school w/o anything fun. Please consider buying from my first HS wish list! www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/...

Today was one of those magical library days that could have been chaos but wasn't. I was reading Hershel and the Hanukkah Goblins with @noveleffect.bsky.social to two 6th grade classes at the same time each block while the public library hosted a program during student's lunches and it was PERFECT!

Met academic, public, and school librarians from Maryland, Wyoming, Arizona, and South Dakota tonight! I'm excited to learn with them this weekend at the Chapter Advocacy Workshop! Thanks for helping us bring this knowledge back to our states @amlibraryassoc.bsky.social and @aaslala.bsky.social

@slj.com Summit knows what we need. I've decided that I'm going to live my life each day so Mr. Rogers, @levarburton.bsky.social, and @mychal3ts.bsky.social would be proud of me.

Landon Williams narrates the audiobook of Mid-Air by Alicia D. Williams and he is STELLAR! It's not easy to read poetry for an audiobook, but I feel like I can tell how the poem is written by how he's reading. He even sang Led Zeppelin! SO GOOD!

As a school librarian riddled with anxiety as well as a desire to fight for justice, I've decided to pretend I'm Julia Sugarbaker when I need to be.

Just a thought, but couldn't we just save the daylight all year? I'm ok with leaving school at 6pm in the daylight even when it's cold out.

It's giving "Ew, David!" but it was supposed to be giving "Yay! New books are here!" You can't win 'em all. I definitely can't win at anything sticking you this thickly painted cinder block for long.
