Day Eleven of our Coast to Coast.

Danby Wiske to Osmotherley

More tracks and field edges across the Vale of Mowbray and then the infamous A19 crossing… beyond which we entered the North York Moors.

This is now my 9th C2C and I’m guiding the route for C2C Packhorse.

Day Ten of our Coast to Coast.

Richmond to Danby Wiske

Today we left the Yorkshire Dales behind, crossed the A1 and headed across the Vale of Mowbray.

We visited the grave of Henry Jenkins who lived to 169! He put his longevity down to eating raw onions & swimming in the Swale daily.

Day Nine of our Coast to Coast.

CB Inn to Richmond

Another beautifully breezy autumn day.

Up over Fremington Edge to the lead mines of Hurst, then along the rim of the deep trough of Marske Beck to Marske, then through the Applegarths to Richmond. A superb route.

Day Eight of our Coast to Coast.

Keld to the CB Inn, Arkengarthdale

At last, a beautifully breezy autumn day. Oh, the joy of walking across the Yorkshire moors; the far-reaching views, deep ravines and abandoned lead mines.

Day 7 of our Coast to Coast

Kirkby Stephen to Keld

The winds from Storm Amy were forecast to be 50+ mph on Nine Standards so we went via Nateby then up over the road across Tailbridge and down into lovely Birkdale and Swaledale.

This is now my 9th C2C and I’m guiding the route for C2C Packhorse.

Day Six of our Coast to Coast.

Shap to Kirkby Stephen

Storm Amy arrived earlier than forecast. After Orton, conditions deteriorated to heavy rain & strong winds so we dropped down from Ravenstonedale Moor to join the old railway line at Brownber then followed this into Kirkby Stephen.

Day Five of our Coast to Coast. Patterdale to Shap

The forecast was for gusts of 32mph on High Raise but the wind was knocking us sideways on Satura Crag so I went with ‘Plan B’ & a lower level route across Beda Fell to Howtown, up over Askham Fell (stone circle) and along to Bampton & Shap.

Day Four of our Coast to Coast.

Grasmere to Patterdale

Up and over the mountain pass, beside the lake of Dunmail, King of Strathclyde, and through the valley of the wild pigs.

This is now my 9th C2C and I’m guiding the route for C2C Packhorse.

I’m keeping a close eye on Storm Amy…

The ‘average’ age profile of people who book my C2C walk is 50 - 70, although it’s hill fitness that is key rather than age. The 14 consecutive days required good hill fitness and stamina. It’s a beautifully varied walk and very enjoyable.

Day Three of our Coast to Coast.

Seatoller to Grasmere

Through the heart of Lakeland via Greenup Edge and Far Easedale. Misty moorlands, rocky crags and lovely waterfalls.

This is now my 9th C2C and I’m guiding the route for C2C Packhorse.

Day Two of our Coast to Coast.

Ennerdale Bridge to Seatoller

Into the Lake District and Wild Ennerdale, Borrowdale Volcanic rocks, lovely Black Sail, the climb up Loft Beck over to Honister and beautiful Borrowdale.

Day One of our Coast to Coast.

St Bees to Ennerdale Bridge. This is now my 9th C2C.

It’s always a pleasure & a privilege to share this route with others … the Permian-Triassic sandstones of the coast to the Ordovician rocks of Nannycatch, Viking placenames, glacial troughs plus amazing views.

Day Five (and final) day of our Isle of Mull Walking Week and the beautiful Isle of Ulva.

A tiny ferry, standing stones, clearance villages, basalt columns (same as Giant’s Causeway), stunning coastlines, Livingstone’s family cottage and a white-tailed sea eagle to finish.

Day Four of our Isle of Mull Walking Week and the beautiful coastline of Calgary Bay and the Treshnish Peninsula.

Hidden away along this rugged coastline are three deserted villages, abandoned during the infamous Highland Clearances - the people from Calgary Bay went on to found Calgary, Canada.
teamwalking.bsky.social
Day Three of our Isle of Mull Walking Week - walking coast to coast!

Salen (east coast) to Loch na Keal (west coast) via ancient woodland, Cnoc na Sròine hillfort, Aros castle and the famous wooden boats.
teamwalking.bsky.social
Day Two of our Isle of Mull Walking Week and a day on Iona.

What an island! 3 billion year old Lewisian Gneiss, St Columba, the Well of Eternal Youth, Dùn Ì viewpoint, the original Celtic Cross plus so much more!
teamwalking.bsky.social
Day One of our Isle of Mull Walking Week and a wonderful ascent up to the ‘twin’ summits of Dùn da Ghaoithe (766m), on the eastern side of the island.

Wonderful views across the island and much further afield to Arran in the south and Skye to the north.
