I think I’m going to keep this bowl. I really like the way the glaze turned out, and even though it’s shallower than I was aiming for I like the shape too. I wish I had trimmed it slightly more, but alas.

Also it’s impossible to photograph ceramics.

We went for a walk over the weekend and saw some pretty wildflowers :) it was nice getting out in the sunshine!

And then I got back from wandering through the underbrush, realized I had a leaf in my hair, and the leaf had an empty chrysalis on it! What are the odds?

I FINALLY FOUND GOOD MUSHROOMS AT MY PARENTS HOUSE!!! It drives me crazy, they have a bunch of wooded property but I can never find edible mushrooms there. But finally! I found hedgehog mushrooms! Big old ones, too! So now I know where to keep an eye on.

Tried making nan gua bing with a kabocha-black sesame filling. Definitely things that could be improved upon but yeah these are tasty.

Linguine with mushroom cream sauce - sliced pigs ear chanterelles sautéed with garlic and prodigious amounts of butter, cream, some of the mushroom duxelles we’re making with the rest of the mushrooms, and a squeeze of lemon.

It could have done with a tiny bit more lemon but it’s really tasty!

Made it out to the ceramic studio this morning and the clay was extremely cooperative! I was experimenting with using a rubber rib to open up and shape the bowls and wow, when it works it’s just like zwoooop, suddenly there’s a bowl! Incredibly satisfying.

Horn has been installed on a crown. It is very shiny. Daughter is very pleased.

A horn fit for a unicorn princess (I hope.) This is the second version, now with 100% more beads and hot glue. The first version was loved to death within hours of being given to Daughter, so this one is much sturdier. Hopefully it survives longer 😅

An insect that looks very much like a honey bee except slightly off, visiting a half-open creamy white chrysanthemum flower. That same not-quite-a-bee on the same flower from a slightly lower angle. You can see its proboscis extended to drink nectar.

My brother met the most beautiful cat & sent me a photo. Also, a bee was being pretty on my tea chrysanthemums.

I love growing ju hua. Sitting in the autumn sunlight, picking flowers - it makes me happy. And then I get delicious tea out of it! A win all around.

I am charmed by this duck-billed tea drinker! When I first saw this I was unreasonably excited because i recognized that cup! I have one of my own 😁
