I'm thankful for competent people like Eerik out there who do the work that they do in order to hold people/governments accountable. I felt it was important enough of issue that despite this being a lengthy document it should be shared with this community. /7

..that their sources are accurate. No matter how this turns out it is another stain on the competency of the Trump administration and their (in)ability to handle foreign policy. IMHO this proposal is probably DOA in the Senate. /6

..obvious that it was not crafted by the Trump admin but rather has originated with Russia. Somehow it got submitted to the press as the actual document that had been given to Ukraine. It will be interesting to see how the press reacts to the new twist to this story and if the press claims... /5

The original story behind this proposal, as I understand it, was that it was crafted by the Trump administration and that Trump had instructed Zelensky that he had to sign it before Thanksgiving. As others, including Eerik, have now gone into detail analyzing this document it became painfully... /4

Apparently the administration is now trying to tell anyone who will listen that this is not what they crafted but rather was leaked to the press. IMHO this sounds like someone trying to cover their ass over what this proposal states.

Basically the proposed treaty either breaks or violates 71 separate treaties, agreements and/or commitments. Not that the Trump administration has really cared much for following the law, this takes things to the extreme internationally. /2
