The Woman in Ward 9 by @lisatimoneywrites.bsky.social ticks all the boxes of what makes a psychological thriller so thrilling.

May has been a pretty good month for reading

A few of these were five stars for me, I had a great time!

The ending has set things up nicely for the final book in the series, 'Wild and Wrangled' and I can't wait to find out what happens!

If you like your romance served a little spicy in a small town with cowboys, then this book (and entire series) is for you.

This is a real grumpy sunshine / enemies to lovers plot and I love how it unfolded! Sage has such a good knack of making you fall in love with her characters and her writing is so natural, it flows smoothly and is so easy to read (I found myself staying up for just 'one more chapter' with this one.

📖 REVIEW 📖

Lost and Lassoed is the third instalment in the Rebel Blue Ranch series by Lyla Sage and my favourite one so far!

This story follows Teddy & Gus as they navigate a Summer of Teddy being a part time babysitter for Gus' daughter, Riley.

Whispers of Dead Girls is out on May 27th

Thank you to @poisonedpen.bsky.social and @netgalley.bsky.social for the ARC 💕

The plot concluded neatly and whilst I was initially a little disappointed by the outcome/'twists', it also makes total sense. (That's as clear as I can be without giving you spoilers!)

Worth a read! 📖

This book tackles a couple of difficult topics which were handled well. There's definitely an aspect of 'justice p*rn' in this plot and, combined with the pacing, the story unravels in quite a powerful way.

She notices his close relationship to a certain student and worries that history will repeat itself after what happened to her sister, and she wants to prevent it from happening again even if it means revealing her darkest secrets.

I took this to being a way of seeing Ren's internal monologue, her conscience and how she processed certain situations.

Ren meets fellow teacher, Bryson, a handsome and charismatic man who is a hit with the girls at the school. But she knows she can't trust him, knows what men like him are like...

Ten years after Ren loses her sister, she returns to her home town to work as a teacher at their old school. Her sister has been immortalised by the town and Ren sees her everywhere she goes, talking to her throughout.

☕ REVIEW ☕

Whispers of Dead Girls by Marlee Bush

I found this to be a real easy read with short chapters and fast paced writing and it definitely has more of a YA feel to it.

I enjoyed seeing her evolve as the story went on, battling with herself a lot and basically discovering a new side of herself.

All in all, a great read and absolutely do recommend picking it up if you get a chance!

⭐⭐⭐⭐

Although I found the main character annoying at times when she made stupid decisions or was irresponsible etc, I really did sympathise with her as a mother - with the constant anxiety she had over keeping her son safe.
teasandthankyou.bsky.social
We kick-off into the mystery early on in the book and, by the halfway point, I wasn't entirely sure where the plot was going! So the twists that unravelled made it a really enjoyable read.

☕ REVIEW ☕

Let me start by saying I really enjoyed this book, it was totally my cup of tea! But a lot of reviews I've seen talk about it being funny and I feel like I missed that?! Don't get me wrong, there was some witty banter between characters etc, but for me it wasn't a major focal point.
