Empires usually paint themselves as the torch and banner carriers of peace, progress, and civilisation.

It's a lie and a sham. The peace of empire is a desert, and 'progress' usually ends up being subjugation - if not of you, then of someone else. No empire is our friend.

Reactionaries know we don't like to share spaces with them. That's what they want.

Once we leave art, they take it over and make it theirs. The more they associate with popular culture, the more normal and legitimate they look.
