Most of the people who want us dead
Are hiding the fact they want us in bed

An Altair clone hooked up to a Sun display playing a version of Tetris, meanwhile a Casio Loopy is just hanging out next to a Famicom

Remember the robot craze in the 80s? Lol. I wanted HERO and TOPO so badly! I feel like putting Maxxxx Steel in with these guys is kind of a stretch though $250 is certainly eye opening lol
techcubus.monster
Quantum Link Reloaded up and running! I seriously thought about the Composite MPS-801 printer but I don't think I have the energy to source consumables for that lol. Commodore fans were all over the floor.

I love the panicked XO lol. I regret not owning one of those but they are really unreliable in my understanding

Atari computers were really popular in the music industry for a while because the computers came with Midi ports. I think Cubase started on the ST in the 80s! Anyway that's a hell of a midi controller! It's the Hotz Box. Also love to the Roland TR-8 for rhythm!

Signed by Bil Herd, a commodore engineer, even!

Random computers! Normally there are a bunch of European computers on display. I don't feel like I saw nearly as many, but this table had the most different manufacturers represented

Someone had their sgi collection out! Silicon graphics workstations were so cool to little me back in the 90s! Striking colors, amazing design language, and wild custom graphics chips designed to preview 3d graphics in real time before they were sent to be ray traced!

These guys do some fun art with computers, certainly stretching what I thought was possible in terms of bringing the CPUs themselves closer to the surface without causing constant crashes lol They had I think macbench running on the Classic in the previous post to show it was computing stuff!

Lots of classic Macintosh love! I grew up on Apple (and commodore) and one of the reasons I love coming here. I can only post four images at a time apparently!
techcubus.monster
Some people were selling old software, some people just letting you look at it which I'm all for sharing collections ❤️

I am quite happy that we've been able to progress past CRTs! I'm glad there's people willing to stick their hands in there to keep this stuff preserved, I just cannot with those voltages lol

That tube neck has 15,000ish volts on it how about noooooo

The small tubes are scary too, 400someish volts!

Honestly the vibe is HAM meet crossed with the various computer users' groups meetings. It can be hard to tell the difference between what's being shown off and what's being sold. I love the wide array of technologies on display! Also those radio receivers in the 4th image are quite choice

A "wide" shot from the back of the hall now, we entered at the front right corner

I can't imagine how this is only two years removed from the much smaller convention center they were in in 2023 and prior

@adriansdigitalbasement.com was there too with some of his well known and current projects. I couldn't make myself be social with Mr. Black but he had a trap of Infocom's Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy text adventure running on a serial terminal which I had to try to play through lol
techcubus.monster
LGR showed up this year after taking last year off! Easily the chillest retro computing channel I follow, I can taste the wood paneling lol. I bought a couple of his shareware disks and a "cool crab" sticker from him and took some free stickers and coasters he had
techcubus.monster
Opening day, opening hour! Let's just say I wasn't expecting this many nerds up this early (11 AM come onnnnnn lol)
techcubus.monster
I brought my own badge this year! Lol, just a hastily modified Python program with one of @kujikawaii.bsky.social's commissions after me trying to remember anything about Mac Plus graphics lol

I think I'll have to get something from him in black and white to start with (you should too!)
techcubus.monster
We visited this cool backrooms style arcade which I imagine isn't quite as mysterious when more people are there lol. Haunted Horseman arcade! Clearly trying to capture some of the Galloping Ghost thunder but since it's more arcade than museum I thought it was much nicer to get around in
techcubus.monster
I've been light stressing on how to present my photos from VCFMW and really I got nothing lol
