On Oct 3, I went to the Broadview ICE facility and saw unprovoked violence by Federal agents

ICE is a violent, untrained, unidentified and unaccountable agency sent by a tyrannical administration to terrorize and silence us

Tell them to leave and never come back

The presence of ICE in Illinois destroys our peace
On October 3rd, I attended the protest outside the Broadview ICE facility, and witnessed firsthand unprovoked violence by Federal agents. It was at this time that Oak Park Township Trustee Juan Muñoz,...

Absolute trash clickbait headline from @routefifty.bsky.social. Do better, editors. That's not what the article, nor the linked report say.

Broadly, research on this says that open source & closed source are about equal in terms of vulnerabilities, and open source tends to get fixed faster.
Foreign adversaries are trying to weaponize open-source software, report finds
Hacking units affiliated with nation-state adversaries are subtly contributing to open-source software tools and working to insert backdoors into publicly available code used by millions worldwide, ne...

‘Wah wah wah, changing government is too hard, I give up.’ Good riddance, you incompetent fuckwit. Like many other brilliant, dedicated, and now alienated people, I have been doing this for thirty years now, and have often been successful — without the pointless cruelty.

I expect Harvard to win on 1A grounds and restore existing Federal grants for a short term win. But no one is talking about how to deal with the feds simply not awarding *new* grants to institutions on the unwritten (or very carefully worded) basis of ideological differences - a scale of 5-10yrs.

I wonder if Citibot will try to deploy agent-based interactions, directly navigating visitors to the relevant city web page(s) while maintaining conversational context.

Took my kid to Philly… great to see the historic sites and reminders of the complex history of our country. Also exhausting. There is weirdly both too much time and not enough time. Looking forward to wrapping the day later with a youth-oriented play and a long drive back.

Trump wants to bring manufacturing jobs back to the US, but is only too happy to outsource prisons, apparently.

So if @mikeblooomberg.bsky.social had, 13 years ago, pitched the NYC large soda ban as a step on the path to reducing SNAP costs, it could actually have happened? www.statnews.com/2025/04/09/s...

Real Americans acknowledge their mistakes and try to fix them. They do not appeal to the Supreme Court for absolution when they wrongly send someone to an El Salvadoran prison because of an openly admitted “administrative error”.

Boom, in this case, seems to refer to the sound of the stock market cratering.
“If Harris wins this election, the result will be a Kamala economic crash. .. A 1929-style depression. When I win the election, we will immediately begin a brand new Trump economic boom.”

Seriously: arrest him. The governor should have state police arrest him and charge him with election fraud. Then immediately hold a press conference explaining you arrested someone for committing election fraud and will continue to do so. Just fucking arrest him already. You can actually do this

Since requiring photo ids excludes a huge swath of voters, most likely in urban areas, this EO also attempts to significantly suppress progressive votes as well.

"Biblically responsible investing" should just be called "investing in hate". My brain immediately went "the next step is to legislate public employee pension funds to invest in BRI-indexed companies." Weirdly, though, I think Rs might have shot themselves in the foot ... 1/2
Biblically responsible investing is booming — and LGBTQ+ Americans are paying the price
The Christian-faith investing movement is a key factor driving American companies away from their DEI efforts.

This headline is an example of a media org bending the knee to the toxic democracy-crushing president. He was in no way “asking” like he’d had them round for tea.

Wait, aren't conservatives constantly upset about being silenced and canceled? Or is that just more projection.
Something that's been clear to me for some time is that a lot of progressive advocacy and politics has overindexed on finding just the right combination of words to say while ignoring the fact that no media ecosystem exists where people might actually hear you say them. New from @mmfa.bsky.social

One of the things I realize I'm struggling with is the soft-pedaling of the impacts in federal policies and resourcing. "might", "may", "think", "believe", "could", "predict", etc. It's media but also people the media is quoting. NO! these changes DO and WILL have impact.

Under pressure from DOGE, Social Security may sharply cut back on phone service options for processing claims and direct-deposit changes, forcing millions to go in person to field offices or make changes online www.washingtonpost.com/politics/202...
