The worst thing about Kemi Badenoch becoming a Stamp Duty Abolitionist is that the Badenoch inverse Midas touch means it is now even less likely to happen

Also the Stamp Duty Defenders never seem to notice that almost no other jurisdiction levels a "moving house tax" at the kinds of % the UK does

Not hard to see how you could pivot it over time. Add functionality to DMs and group chats to make them closer to WhatsApp. Rolling out of newsletters would have been a wedge into paid subscriptions and virtual tip jars and from there an eventual pivot to payment wallets...

Twitter had basically near complete capture of elite discourse in key western markets, had become the go to for breaking news on basically any major event, had DMs that had expanded to group chats, and had begun rolling out newsletters (a la substack) before the X acquisition

One of the dumbest things about this whole failed musk idea is that...old school Twitter *actually* had the basic ingredients to become something like a western equivalent to Asian Super-Apps

They just threw it all away so they could cook the user base in a soup of algorithmically driven fascism

It's not a big thing one way or the other in the grand scheme, but so far I've not heard much about X The Everything App launching peer-to-peer payment services, investments and debit or credit cards like they said they were going to a couple of months ago.

When you could code silly quizzes on Facebook, it was FULL of "what would you be in medieval times?!" etc.

I made one that nearly always answered "died as a child", "died in childbirth", "lived and died as a servant"

People got SUPER mad with it.
