There is no rational reason to deny the fundamental civil right of marriage on the basis of sex. A harmful tradition is not a rational reason to continue a tradition of harm.

Judges are not required to participate in weddings. They may, but it is not a required duty. The state must still issue the license, and most anyone can be certified by the state to officiate.
