For my entire life I felt that military coups within democracies were a bad thing. I’m kinda rethinking that.

After Casino Royale the Craig films were all antithetical to Bond. 1) Grim — even the most hard-assed Connery and Dalton movies were fun. 2) Overly self-reverential to where you need a cheat sheet to keep up. Bond movies should work on their own. 3)Craig is a good actor but wrong energy for Bond.

Going back to the original Herzl statement, Britain certainly encouraged Jewish emigration to Mandatory Palestine. That’s colonialism. But years later when they were fighting them for independence was anti-colonialism — an insurgency. Not lazy, not a lie.
