Willie's pretty steeped in jazz - big Django fan, recorded an album of standards, etc. But it doesn't seem like he's done this one.

You do not, under any circumstances, "gotta hand it to her," but it definitely doesn't look like ChatGPT.

The university's response seems pretty irregular to me: I've never heard of putting an instructor on administrative leave over an (unresolved) grading dispute. I get that the student is alleging religious discrimination as well, but that seems hard to prove in this instance (and is as yet unproven).

I tend to agree, with the stipulation that this appears to be one of a series of "reaction papers" the students write throughout the semester. So there could be a set of additional instructions/parameters for reaction papers that establish some of the expectations the instructor seems to have.

I've loved Bauhaus & that song for 40 years, but I gotta go chalk on this one: "This Is Halloween."

I think you're completely misreading this take.

ICE has been made more terrible over the last several months; it could therefore be returned to previous levels of terribleness.

Perry's point is exactly that THAT IS NOT ACCEPTABLE.

I don't think many people really love it. They prefer it to the drudgery they mostly use it to avoid - emails, papers, thinking - and because it's free and ubiquitous. More passive dependency than active affection. But an unsustainable business model is a much bigger threat than lw revolt.

I don't think all his giant tomes are great - V is a total slog, and I never got more than 50 pages into Against the Day, but GR and M&D are great. Both have a kind of density and texture that's almost Tolkien-y.

The lighter Pynchon I actually find harder to read - they feel insubstantial & thin.

I mean, she's also said she's not running for that, but 🤷‍♂️

What race are you thinking of? I thought she'd said she wasn't running for Senate, & her district is extremely safe.

Mostly because of the complete vacuity of the institutionalist wing of their party, which could never happen to--well, hmm.

My mom took me to see Return of the Secaucus 7 when I was 7 or 8. Been riding with John ever since.
