Just an FYI, the BC union strike hasn’t listed abattoirs as essential, so the food inspectors can’t be at the processors. This could lead to a possible food shortage and animal welfare issue as animals are backing up at the processors, this will hurt non union workers and farmers

After an insane weekend, back on the camper. The left side is nearing competition, just have the foam to replace, but leaving that till we access the front to assess any damage. The hard side has been exposed for us to see the scale of repair. It’s braced up and ready to get into tomorrow.

That was a night. Someone’s travel trailer exploded to our due North. Wildfire wasn’t going to attend, so off we went to manage it all night. Think an offgrid system blew the batteries at around 10 (Neighbour heard what he thought was gunshots, but evidence looks like overcurrent windmill.)

That was a night. Someone’s travel trailer exploded to our due North. Wildfire wasn’t going to attend, so off we went to manage it all night. Think an offgrid system blew the batteries at around 10 (Neighbour heard what he thought was gunshots, but evidence looks like overcurrent windmill.)
A bit of work with Mya today, collecting the flock. We usually use her to drive and have really mucked up the outrun, but she’s a quick study. Protecting our ‘miracle squash’ from the rams.

Even with the rain we worked on the camper. The bench is out, removed some of the back ply to help with removal of the cabinet. Today should have the side back together with new. #camperremodel #camper #camperlife #camperremodel #campers #campertruck #camperbuild #camperproject

Truck is fixed- swapped the steering, adjusted the APPS/throttle position sensor. Started looking at the parts Nitro for good suspension to put on Karis Jeep. Ready to farm again, gonna be using the ‘97 around the farm instead of the ‘01 (saves wear.)

2nd group of ram lambs sorted, mostly pure Dorps, Kari got to work stripping the camper so we can fix some water damage, I took the wallered out knuckle off the truck and am working to replace a damaged TRE.

Sorted the little ram lambs that are getting too old to be in with the ewes. Mya was super keen to get to move the sheep, and we got it all done before the skies opened up with torrents of rain and hail.

Evening wrap up, guard dogs in the hayfield, checking a hole (for our log gate post/fence project) for anyone who might have got under the skidsteer that’s temporarily covering it, and my little dairy buddy coming for pets while the lambs are all waiting for their dinner crunchies.

Week of shipping lambs around the Okanagan is done. The lack of AC in the truck was a war crime on the hottest day of the spring during the Kelowna trip. Hoping this week to start some gates and fencing with the skid steer, and to get the tractor final disassembled so I can order parts.

Traffic on the range road on my way to get a bale of hay for the horses. Eleven is doing amazing in the playpen, mastitis momma is about done with being contained in her pen. The benefit to having multiple pieces of equipment.

Plowing this winter. Doing lots of mechanical this week, truck has its hitch, trailer converted to 5th wheel, small tractor half stripped down so we can do a ton of small maintenance.

Despite the weather, our little dude that got himself wedged and jammed up in the feeder a few ago, is now out of the triage pen. His biggest thing now is to get out and move and start working that left rear leg.

That’s a wrap on our spring 2025 lambing group. Another full Dorper ewe lamb, the end of this group finally brought our ewe lamb numbers up, early it looked like our purebreds were only gonna be boys.

The RDCK voted that any ostrich going in the RDCK landfill must be tested and must be positive for avian flu. This forces the CFIA to retest the flock, up to this point they said they are unwilling to do, to ensure that there is positive avian flu birds only going.
