Ended up watching both Shazam! movies with my 10-yr-old this weekend.

Outside of off-screen drama, they weren't bad movies! Especially for actual kid superhero fans. It's sad that they could've fit in the new DCU but I doubt that'll happen now.

I think we rightly condemn hateful or harmful rhetoric and actions (punishing the latter when appropriate), but I think we lose something in ourselves and become like our opponents (and create a dangerous precedent) when we start parsing out who deserves empathy and who doesn't.

1950: The Dark
1960: Dr. Darkside
1980: Darksyde
1990: Darkcide
2000: D.A.R.K.S.E.I.D.
2010: Darkseid, after a 6-issue origin story for the name
2020: Mr. Drake Sid. A side character quips "you sure do have a...dark side"
