as a Reds fan, it totally checks out. about ten years ago I realized I didn't need to care about the team like I always had since ownership clearly didn't. Was liberating. Sad, but liberating. Past age 50 now and no regrets on mentally walking away from caring.

Really was nice to mostly stop caring a decade ago, really. 40 years was long enough it turns out, for me to finally understand how little ownership cared about the things I cared about when it came to the Reds. Once I got there, generally letting go was easy.
