There are Christmas markets, and then there are medieval markets. This weekend, you can visit the Medieval market in Vic, about an hour's train ride outside of Barcelona. There's entertainment, activities, people dressed in medieval attire – and 300 market stalls.

Only in Barcelona, you get LEGO models of Sagrada Familia and Park Güell.

I had to record myself saying three sentences – only. 20+ takes later, after having repeated “I’m a travel writer and digital nomad” multiple times, I just blurted out “I am a time traveller”.

Now I get the cutout bloopers at the end of movies.

October feast, Catalan style. There are the little Halloween-themed sweets, obviously, but also anti-clockwise: pan de coca — a flatbread topped with vegetables; an empanada — filled with meat or veg or both; and panellets de pinyons — a marzipan mini-cake with pine nuts.

A whole lot of devils and a bunch of dragons showered fire 🔥 over the crowds in the streets of Poblenou. The correfoc is more than spectacular. It's a thrill. A shot of adrenaline. Now I understand why the Spanish are so obsessed with their festivals. #correfoc #travel

My latest post is all about an English town full of medieval sights, quaint indie businesses, awesome pubs and a great riverside promenade.

Charles Dickens’ Study Hides in Plain Sight in This Quaint English Town
A little over an hour from London, this tiny riverside town has a big heart, lots of history, and the most delightful dining and shopping outlets this side of the British Isles

During the kukeri masquerades in Bulgaria, which date back to ancient times, mummers, called kukeri, dance to ward off evil and invite blessings of abundance. More about this in the Sunday post at thelocalinsider.substack.com

Write every day for 1 hour. If you miss a writing day add 1 hour to the next. It’s incredible! Tomorrow I’m writing for 7 years.

Remember the little free pop-up libraries on train stations around the UK I mentioned earlier this week? Well, it’s definitely a trend. I now stumbled upon a phone box in London that’s been reincarnated as a library.

It looks like a trend that’s catching on. I’ve seen it at two train stations across England now — a little free library. I wonder whether all train stations in England are about to get one. Have you spotted any in your neck of the woods? #library #london #books

What I love the most about London is that here no two places are alike, and sometimes a single street is a world in its own right. Take Brick Lane for example. #travel #london

My cousin was incredulous when I told her that nature and time spent in the forest inspired Gaudi. The entire Art Nouveau movement drew on nature. She told me most modernist buildings in Barcelona looked too geometric. As a photographer pointed out recently, geometry is everywhere in nature.
