#Karakia

We always stop mahi to have karakia together before our MPs go into the House.
Today, Takuta stands to fight for MACA for our moana, our whakapapa, and the rights guaranteed under Te Tiriti.

Our future is already here.

This week, Oriini Kaipara enters Parliament as MP for Tāmaki Makaurau, carrying forward the kaupapa of Takutai Kemp

A black and white photo of Te Pāti Māori caucus in session. MPs and kaimahi sit around a long wooden table covered with laptops, papers, and coffee cups. Some are smiling and talking while others listen or take notes. A screen on the wall shows participants joining by video. The atmosphere is focused, warm, and collaborative.

There’s been a lot in the media today. Here is our response. #NZPol

White background with black text headed “Te Pāti Māori Response”. The statement begins: “We are aware of comments made in the media regarding Te Pāti Māori’s constitution and governance processes…” It explains that the party is committed to transparency, that the AGM will be held in the coming months, and that the integrity of the movement is paramount.

Image 2 :
Continuation of the statement. It affirms Te Pāti Māori’s kaupapa of kotahitanga, mana motuhake, and rangatiratanga. The text rejects attempts to divide or undermine the party, and reassures members and supporters that constitutional requirements are being met.

The real threat isn’t a wealth tax that asks the richest to pay their share. The real threat is a government protecting the wealthy while whānau struggle to pay rent and put kai on the table.

tepaatimaori.bsky.social
Do we care about polls? Not really.

What we care about is making this a one-term government. That won’t be decided by pollsters, it’ll be decided by our whānau both Māori and Tangata te Tiriti at the ballot box. Come on 2026 ❤️🤍🖤

Left-wing parties could form Govt on new poll, but close race predicted
All parliamentary parties gained support, apart from Act.

🚩During the by-election, we faced predatory media, reporters hiding in bushes, turning up at kura without permission, chasing us in malls & lifts, yelling for interviews, all to manufacture 6pm drama. We won’t compromise whānau safety. Protecting our people comes first

🚩MEDIA BEHAVIOUR🚩 During the by-election campaign we experienced predatory media behaviour. Reporters pouncing out of bushes, hidden camera ppl, turning up to kura without whānau knowledge or permission, creating alarm at malls, chasing us into lifts, even today screaming at us why wont we allow interviews, filming it to heighten the drama for their 6pm viewership. Debbie’s Facebook post continued

We chose not to engage with mainstream tabloid aggression because protecting our MPs, candidates, and whānau always comes first. That decision as they’d been told numerous times stands until we sit down kanohi ki te kanohi. I refuse to allow them to use their media platform to demonise us, this was never about avoidance, or transparency! It’s simple, we will never ever compromise the safety of our whānau. I hope you all understand. WHEN YOU DON’T RESPOND TO BAD BEHAVIOR, YOU GET MORE OF IT.

Keen for outside pāremata whakaaro?

Our Parliament still speaks the language of Westminster, not Aotearoa. When tikanga enters the chamber it’s powerful.

What if tikanga shaped the rules themselves? How should Parliament look and feel if it truly reflected Aotearoa?

Mōrena Sophie,

Lots of people in Tāmaki Makaurau already shorten it to “Tāmaki” in everyday kōrero, especially in political contexts. And, the full name is always right there when you need it.
tepaatimaori.bsky.social
That’s a brutal Saturday night discovery! At least in Tāmaki we’ve got a better storyline than Transformers…. it’s called Age of Transformation.

So……How are you tonight, whānau?

Are we all out being social butterflies tonight, or are we in our PJs pretending not to hear the dishes calling?

Either way, don’t forget there’s one more thing that matters in Tāmaki and that is voting. #NZPol #TāmakiMakaurau #Election2025 #VoteOriini

Coordinated attacks on Māori women in politics are disgusting. We need more diverse representation in politics not paru uncles trying to drag us backwards.

First things first if you’re in Tāmaki , make sure you’re enrolled and ready to vote in the by-election to KEEP the seat. We don’t have to wait till 2026 to send a message we start by protecting what we already fought for. Every vote counts if we want real change, not more of the same #NZPol #Oriini
