During the trial, Horáková showed so much defiance that the regime killed her in an excessively cruel manner. She was hanged in a way that she was suffocating for over 13 minutes. Her body was burned and her ashes never returned to her family. In the letter to Jana she wrote “Decide to fight.”

And indeed, here’s Merkel in a 2022 interview admiring Chamberlain for ‘giving his country the buffer‘ in 1938. Isn’t that a remarkable way of referring to the sacrificing of Czechoslovakia to a German Nazi occupation, and more broadly of relating to East-Central Europe as a German ex-chancellor

Merkel continues to blame others instead of herself. In this case, she shifts blame onto the Baltic states and Poland for refusing EU ‘negotiations’ with Putin, after the historical experience that the Baltic and East-Central Europe have made with Russia… but also, with Germany

Yes, but in this case it could still be interesting as the victorious populist has a gigantic conflict of interest and a major corruption court case against him and the President raised it as a disturbing issue that warrants addressing so we’ll see… either way it’d be minority govt which is good too
