Had to share a couple pics of another Long-eared Owl homie I had the pleasure of seeing recently. This one was solo and doing its own thing, not roosting with others. Always grateful for these quiet moments in the woods. 📷👐🏾🫶🏾🦉🪶

#feedingtime for #birdoftheday, here’s one of my favorite little guys, a Northern Pygmy Owl with a dragonfly meal. Video clip in comments showing its very hungry chicks after it landed with what’s left of a chipmunk, with vocalizations. Lake Tahoe, California
The diminutive owl sits on a branch facing us while looking to our right. In its jaws is the body of a dragonfly, 1.5 wings left. The length of the dragonfly is almost as tall as the owl is at the shoulders. Thankfully for the owl its feet are at least normal size, I.e. comically huge.

It’s cold and I’ve been on my belly for hours with my Nikon and wide-angle lens hoping to catch an emperor fly like missile from the sea.

Although I can barely feel my fingers, I couldn’t be happier. My heart is singing and I can’t help but smile.

A dolphin that was toying with a Remora that was clinging to a Manatee last week in Tampa Bay. The dolphin eventually separated the remora from the manatee but only stalked it for a short time before leaving it be.
