First page of our script, Terms & Conditions: EXT. SUBURBAN HOUSE — DUSK Boring, whitebread suburbia. Immaculate lawns, over-priced cars in the driveways, every cookie cutter house the same. Except the one right in front of us. The tightly drawn black curtains on a bedroom window promise gothic angst inside. ROB (O.S.) (mumbled poorly) Eis persuasit, quod undique loci natura Helvetii continentur. Pre-lap: Haptic phone typing followed by a CELEBRATORY SFX INT. DARK BEDROOM - NIGHT ROB (30s, M), his bleary eyes slits, lies on his black-sheeted bed, grinning at the readout from ChadPDG — his AI agent. He jumps off the bed and slides up to his standing desk where his computer monitor shows he’s having a conversation with ChadPDG. ROB (outloud, as he types) So, you’re sure you’ve translated the pages correctly? ON SCREEN CHADPDG Yes, of course. These pages describe how to summon the demon Ast-Roth — a demon of vengeance and spurned lovers. BACK TO THE ROOM ROB (still typing) Perfect. Send the pages to my phone. He pushes himself off his bed, and turns to take in his room. It’s a wreck. ...Except the space cleared in the center of the room where what could only be a magic circle is crudely chalked on his floor. He grimaces at his reflection in a mirror, licks his empty hand, smoothes out his rat’s nest of hair as he checks for BO.
