Day 1 of throwing had some serious failures. I chucked them in a bag to get them out of my brain so I can move forward and make progress. The next day, however, that wet clay needs to be addressed. This video shows the beginning of that process. Stay tuned for the next step. #terrikern

I’m working on my line paintings today. As you can see from the close up, I don’t always follow the pencil lines I’ve mapped out. I always like to leave room for changes while I work. As I move the brush across the surface of the tile, my instincts kick in and the flow of the brush lines follow.

It’s “Crack yourself up Thursday!” 😂 I’m pulling my ideas together and trying to get fired up for the next few weeks of painting as I prepare for the 31st Annual Studio Collection Holiday Sale on Saturday, November 22nd at the Clifton Recreation Center from 10-4.
My studio, (511,) @pendletonartcentercincinnati will be closed on Final Friday, 10/31. There is plenty of great art and good conversations to experience so I hope you’ll make it part of your weekend plans! If you’re looking for ceramics, check out the studios on the 2nd and 4th floors.

This piece is called “Missing”. It’s my first attempt at a new kind of fox. She gazes directly at the viewer, wanting to see and be seen. Her tail of many colors mimics fire, with the embers floating up to the sky and turning into leaves. Learn More at TerriKernClasses.com

This is from a series of bottle forms I created from my show at the Taft Museum of Art in 2024-2025. The form was inspired by Chinese porcelain vessels that sat upon wooden bases that are held within the Taft Museum’s collection. This piece is titled “Familiar Waters”.
