Seems obvious, but that is the third spelling just in this thread...

I must be channeling my English great-grandfather this year. For a mere 4 days of vacation time, I'm off for 13 straight days. This is actually the most I've looked forward to Christmas in years.
And I LOVE cheese...

It looks like there are, chats, the middle button at the bottom of the app. You are listed as Not available for messaging. Must be some setting or another.

If you need a beta reader, hit me up. After our discussion on myth a bit ago, I'm interested in your work.

Oh, I don't know. A shot of Manna, a shot of Campari, and a Red Bull mixer makes a hell of a cocktail...

I didn't see the original Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1956). It was the best of the three (and stuck closest to the book).
Great list! I've seen many, and now I'll find the ones I haven't.

This makes sense, because growing up in a vacuum, you wouldn't know it's called a bottle, nor would you have access to the thousands of years of language history after which we arrived at the word "bottle."
I imagine most original names for things had more to do with senses (sounds, feel, etc.)

Very interesting ideas and a good conversation started by my snark. 😄

I wonder, would it be appropriate to say that myth serves the listener, while religion serves the speaker?

"Religion is myth packaged as ritual and societal control."
That is probably the most succinct definition of religion I've ever heard. It makes me happy.
To your last point, I would rephrase it as "religion is the appropriation of myth."

Myth and associated religion has always been used to keep folks in line.
Priest: If you don't do as I say, the gods will be angry and withhold the rain.
