This is part 1 of the description of Terzij de Horde's track Justice is Not Enough to Leave the House of Modernity. It is an image that reads: This track steps backward into the darkness. The track’s title was inspired by the project ‘The House That Modernity Built, which in turn drew its inspiration from Audre Lorde’s expression that ‘the master’s tools will never dismantle the master’s house’. A desire for justice will not provide enough strength, energy and inspiration to break humanity out of the confines of a modernity that chokes the life out of the world.

A HAMMER TO THE GREAT MATTER OF BIRTH AND DEATH is a track about impermanence, loss of control and grief:

The title of the track refers to the admonition that is called out in the Zen tradition: ‘Great is the matter of birth and death. Everything is impermanence, passing quickly. The track is dedicated to the memory of Michiel Eikenaar, friend of the band and singer of Nihill and Dodecahedron.

RAISE THEM TOWARDS THE SUN is a song about courage and cowardice, developing the theme from the opening track further (with alt text):

Terzij de Horde's first song, Each Breath a Flame, explained: This is the album’s introduction, mixing 90s metalcore influences with a volcanic wall of sound. Part of the soundscape was created when Terzij de Horde visited the Documenta Institute for a combined performance and lecture. The gigantic open structure of the Documenta Halle had a very unusual resonance, and the band recorded the reverberation of drums through this building. The track starts with a challenge: ‘do we dare to crawl out of a history of cowardice, out of shadowed towers at supremacy’s heart?’
