I've spent a lot of time around audiences for Broadway shows featuring celebrities and I absolutely 100% believe this is real.

Everyone saying "this isn't real" has never spent any time around audiences for a Broadway show featuring a celebrity. This is absolutely real.

Ok but Beckett would absolutely LOVE this. This is exactly what he was going for.

TFW you paid $1400 to see Beckett’s most famous work without knowing anything about it
One Star Review of Waiting for Godot on Broadway
I recently attended Waiting for Godot on Broadway and spent over $1,400 for two Row C seats (103 and 104). I'm a longtime admirer of Broadway productions and even hold a season pass for Shea's Performing Arts Theatre, so I came in with genuine enthusiasm and high expectations. Unfortunately, this show was unlike anything ! have ever experienced —and not in a good way.
What I encountered was not the artistry, music, or emotional storytelling I usually associate with Broadway, but instead what felt like an endless cycle of nonsensical conversation between characters who seemed trapped in their own madness. I tried-truly tried-to find meaning, symbolism, or even a thread of emotional resonance. I stayed through the first half hoping the second would offer clarity. But by intermission, it was clear: this was a waste of both time and money.
Keanu Reeves is an actor I respect greatly, but I cannot fathom why he would agree to participate in such a disjointed, inaccessible production. His talent was lost in a performance that defied reason rather than provoked insight.
To anyone considering attending: unless you are drawn to highly abstract, nearly incomprehensible theater, I strongly caution you against this show. For the average, educated, thoughtful theatergoer, it is far more frustrating than fulfilling. In my opinion, this was the single most disappointing Broadway experience I've ever had - an unfortunate waste of money and, more importantly, of time.

This is a pretty convincing argument but it is not at all what I got from the original conversation, just to be honest.

There are absolutely people who want Franklin gone because he's black. No arguments; definitely a thing that exists. But does that definitionally mean everyone who wants Franklin gone shares that motivation? Cause that philosophically feels like a weird road to go down.

I want to zoom this out a bit. Am I "in league" with anyone who agrees with me on something regardless of their motivation?

Like, if I hate Candace Owens because of her politics, am I "in league" with people who hate her because she's a black woman?

Shout out to the FDNY members at this biergarten drinking White Claws and just chucking the empties on the ground.

North Texas was the first program in a former Confederate state to desegregate and I have no problem whatsoever saying we are almost always horrible at football and our coaches, until recently, have been ass.

What’s the word where you’re from that, when pronounced exactly as it looks, identifies a tourist immediately?

50/50 chance he thinks Sharia Law is an LSU cornerback.

They're also the reason regular cyclists are moving to the sidewalks more and more, which is both horribly unsafe and actively hurting the push for better bike infrastructure. The number of times I've heard in Astoria, "why should we build bike lanes, they don't use them anyway..."

Yeah, that's how I feel about it as well. It was bounced around a few meetings but it never had approval at any kind of upper level.

Anyway, I'll forgive it if they'll give me my Gilded Age New York game and let me kill Vanderbilt's and Morgans instead.

Here's my conspiracy theory (just cause I want it to be true). There were never actually plans at the corporate level to make this game. This is a few developers "leaking" their idea to the press so they can point to the backlash as evidence that there's a demand for this game.
texaninnyc.bsky.social
It also sold like gangbusters despite okay-ish reviews, on the heels of Valhalla being not great. I don't get this at all.

"You can't call James Franklin a bad coach cause he's black" feels like a right-wing parody of a left-wing football fan.

Look she said she likes dinosaurs. We went with it
texaninnyc.bsky.social
Putting aside the obvious horribleness here - 'you can't say a football team is ass because they desegregated early 75 years ago' is just massive levels of, as the kids would say, cope.

Personal anecdote: extinction training is the best parenting decision we made so far.

Talking about bad things as if they were inevitable is just as bad as talking about them as if they were impossible.

Wait wait wait wait wait.

I sang that song in the Fredericksburg Children's Choir when I was eight. It's been one of my favorites ever since.

How am I just now learning it's not about the Texas/Oklahoma border?

I don't even know what valley it is but I think of Clueless.

And then I feel bad cause obviously I should've thought of RGV first.

You could also just keep sending one guy at a time on a blitz and it would somehow work out the same.

Have all 11 guys run at the line and they'll naturally create both a 4-3 and 3-4 defense as soon as the hit the slot.
