➡️ Marine heatwaves do not act alone. They amplify long-term trends (warming and stratification) & drive rapid ecosystem reorganization, with implications for the ocean carbon cycle. Implications even more detrimental considering that most of the high-latitudes regions as experiencing acification.

👉 Strongly contrasting responses at biogeographic boundaries:
• Celtic Sea (southern limit): longer but weaker blooms, fragmentation and seasonal shift → signal of degradation.
• Barents Sea (northern limit): unprecedented bloom in 2023, record intensity and spatial extent (~60% of the basin).

Dans une vue + large, le Pacifique reste a des niveaux très élevées ainsi que toute la zone Arctique et l’Atl.tropical.
Sans préjugés des conditions atmosphériques, cela reste un réservoir d’énergie/d’humidité conséquents et une souffrance pour tous les écosystèmes
