I wish you luck, but everything wrong with TTRPGs can be summarized in the 5e ruleset. Plus, @paizo.com does this 100 times better with Starfinder.

Traveller Mongoose 2nd Ed - Currently GMing - Awesome!

Shadowdark - Kinda fun, reminds me of D&D Basic back in the 80s

DC20 - Needs more time in the oven, but has potential.

Twilight:2000 4th Ed - was a blast!

As you can see, with seven players, the two roles are essential, lol!

See pic for the night's synopsis. (all stored in a dedicated Obsidian Vault)

The record keeper tracks events and the evening's story in a quick overview format and then posts it in our Discord channel. I then extrapolate it, fill in any blanks, and post it in the session history channel. So far, 1st session is done, and it worked out well.

The Face is the leader of the session of the party, coordinating the group, doing simple task rolls, checks, etc. and performs the leadership position in combat. Also speaks for the party in NPC encounters.

For Sci-fi, Traveller Mongoose 2e edition (building a campaign for this summer right now).

If I want Sci-Fantasy, I would run Starfinder.

In the Mongoose 2nd edition, there is an alternate rule in the Traveller Companion sourcebook that implements this. Iron Man, under alternative character creation, page 13.

I should clarify that this comment is for Twilight:2000. Regarding Traveller, I just picked up the Mongoose Publications 2e version and love it so far.

The 4th edition by Free League Publishing is much more streamlined and enjoyable. I just ran it for my group this past summer into the end of the year. They all (6 players) enjoyed it.

Ran:
1. Pathfinder2e
2. Twilight:2000

Played:
1. DC20
2. 5e-14 1-shot

Playing in a new DC20 game this winter, prepping a Traveller Mongoose2e game for the summer. May play some PF2e with the family.

Same, but I'm finally running Mongoose Traveller 2e this summer. As the forever GM, I finally said f' it. This is what were playing. Just finished a Twilight 2000 session, Traveller this summer, and maybe Gamma World next year.

I just jumped back in the the deep end, having not read or played since the 80s, grabbed the core rule book from a local store, and its awesome. Grabbed the bundle of holding earlier today, and will be adding hardback books as I go. Just ordered the GM screen.

Nice. I have a bunch of pdfs, but I'm gonna see what my FLGS has in stock, and then place an order for a few books after the holidays. A tablet is nice, but nothing beats a hardcover book for reading.

I've been a forever DM since the late 80s. Finally had a player join our group who is happy to run, so I get to sit at the table without a a care in the world for the a while... My gaming happiness knows no bounds, lol!

Plus, gives me time to compose my next game using Mongoose #Traveller rules!
