Depends on the ant species really, if theyre fully claustral you get them in a tube bc they love small cramped spaces but if theyre semi-claustral you gotta hook the tube up to an outworld so they can go scavenge for food

I have a camponotus chilensis and brachymyrmex patagonicus queen both on their tubes starting their colonies , campo queen has a small baby girl worker but hasnt laid any eggs atm
