You haven't done anything wrong; that's the issue of the system overall.
There is a reasonable conclusion to be drawn based on what the politicians say their intention is, but this is in contrast to what one concludes based on only their actions & inactions, with their claimed intent removed.

The mistake you're making is that both the Ds & the Rs fundamentally only represent the billionaire class.
The Dems aren't there to force progress. They're there to contain and control progressives, and direct them into efforts that will fail while the Republicans loot the country on their behalf.

Its worse; "they're incompetent morons" is a defense mechanism that makes them seem harmless.
They *know* what will happen, and they don't care, because they expect that it won't happen to them personally, and they're fine with others suffering because that's what their worldview is based on.
