I worked at a mailbox store outside of Boston. One customer was sending a package to a J.D. Salinger at a New Hampshire address. “IS THAT THE WRITER J.D. SALINGER?” I asked, stupidly.
I didn’t realize he was a famous recluse who didn’t want anyone to know where he lived. The sender? His daughter.

If you are running as a candidate who says “I believe government should work to support our communities and make all lives better,” then what better way to show it than to spend your funds on exactly that? Would you prefer more text message ads paying lip service to a cause?

Will, I followed you to try to broaden the type of opinions I get here on Bluesky, but I swear to god most of what I see is you complaining about the platform. Do you think other people never have controversial takes, or are they just more able to manage them without making it their whole thing?

They definitely don’t have a purity test. It’s much more of an impurity test.

It’s enough to make you wonder whether the point of pushing AI so hard in everything is to weaken critical thinking skills, the same way we’ve done through “education reform.”

You’re right, and King doesn’t have his fastball the way he did when he was pumping out two classics a year in the 80s and 90s, but if an unknown modern writer vaulted to the level of success King’s had even in the last 20 years, we’d be talking about that writer like they were something special.

I bought a home a couple of months ago, and after getting approved by our lender (Rocket Mortgage) I started getting calls approaching 40-50 a day on number for weeks. I had to change my phone settings to filter them out. What customer does this work on?

For a long time she thought that if she did the most terrible things imaginable, Trump would reward her. And she was right. Now, she’s iced out from his circle, and she’s looking for a new grift.

I think it fits with the traditional Republican political strategy, which for so long has been “make the other side be the grown ups.” Nobody WANTS escalation, so escalate and get the other side to be responsible.
It’s pure negligence, but there’s a certain logic to it.
