I straight up fell for propaganda, and for that I am ashamed. I apologize for spreading uninformed and hurtful messaging in my upset state. The focus should always be on the failures of our leadership and I let myself fall away from that.

In looking for some higher cause for them going against the majority of their party, I accepted an infographic depicting the 8 senators and donation amounts they received at face value. I now know that was misleading and ignored funding of larger proportion from many other outside groups.

So I've been doing some reading and self reflection following this response and I'd like to correct myself. It was wrong of me to link these senators' actions with AIPAC and other pro-israel PAC donations. There is no credible connection here.

Polling showed more and more people understanding that this is a Republican shutdown executed to hold our rights and benefits hostage. The people in power were fucking scared. The reins were being grappled away from them, but these 8 Democrats smacked the rest of the party down.
