…doesn’t alw—friend, are you *sure* you landed in Charlotte? Didn’t divert to RDU? 🤣

Sorrows, prayers.

I wish you continued forbearance of this especially prudent affliction.

I mean in fairness Macdo has only offered veggie stuff VERY recently in FR. Like, maybe a year?

I mean, Santa Baby in its many weird psychosexual variations surely has to be up there, right?

…in which I also dig out photos from as recently as 2017 where Japan Airlines was handing out ENORMOUS power banks in domestic first class seat pockets!

That sounds blissful. Mine has no USB socket — just a cigarette lighter port for power. I contemplated adding a CarPlay unit, but like... I can just put my phone in the holster and it's fine?

Apparently the ones in the wrong office though…

oh MERDE. Let me know if you need me to do le dropshipping for you from France, friend.

Oh for sure, my 2018 Berlingo's most technologically advanced element is a Bluetooth connection for the radio, which is more of a pain than just plugging in the aux lead (to the dongle to the USB-C of course, because god forbid our phones have actual sockets for things).

no it's not a tesla

"love is never black and white"

given context and *gestures* everything, this makes me want to ensure this is not some sort of weirdo anti-miscegenation text

Well someone is theoretically enforcing these airline bans and limits! Whoever that is gets to do this.

I have no sympathy for airlines on this one. iPhones have been around for 20 years next year, and charging has never been only a nice-to-have since.

I’m fine with safety checks and requirements: does it have a trusted legit kitemark, is it visibly damaged, recalled, etc.

But it’s not on that an airline expects me to travel for 12+ hours with no chance to charge my phone, using it for their passenger processing and experience benefit.
January 14, 2026 at 11:31 AM
It is a little more complicated than one might think owing to the need for heat dissipation in the airline seat context, especially for retrofitting older aircraft and for narrowbodies, but it is essentially a commercial decision at this point rather than a technical constraint.

Oh, it's already awful — people playing TikTok/Reels/Shorts on their phones out loud, making phone calls, sending voice messages on WhatsApp.

I genuinely relish unconnected flights these days, and increasingly rely on noise-cancelling earbuds and lo-fi ambient music.

It’s a good joke but no. Mind you, a key benefit of the LEO system antennas is that they are much smaller, lighter and easier to install. And quicker, which is sort of your point :)
