We have signed our financial statements for changing our money over into Dollars...I am allowed to convert $120... These cartons of cigarettes at black market price will bring me $60. That $120 will help towards buying what new clothes I will need when I get home.

We are still being processed for shipment. Yesterday we turned in all the weapons we had left in the Company and that is about the last of our organizational equipment. All we have in supply now is clothing and records. About one more clothing check and we should be all ready to go home...

We are finally getting relieved of our duties up here. A Regiment of the 78th Div has come up to take over our duties. Sometime this month the British are going to take over again-all the territory with the exception of Bremen and Bremerhaven, which will be controlled by this Regiment of the 78th."

I hear the 115th will load on ships about the 23rd of Dec. We are supposed to go on a ship that will make the trip in about 8 days-which means I'll hit New York on about New Year's Day...I sure hate this being delayed, but there is no use getting hot about it I guess. I'll get home one of these days

A few weeks ago I found a little Belgium automatic pistol but there were several parts on it broken. Yesterday I got another pistol just like it that was also 'beat up' so I took the two pistols and fixed up one good one. I sold it today for $40. I'll have to look around for some more junk pistols."
