It's been shown that enemy forces surrender more readily if they know they will be treated well afterwards. But aside from that, we should always treat people with a basic level of dignity and respect. If we can do it for death row inmates, we can do it for anyone.

Washington saw himself as a British person. Those prisoners were his countrymen, his equals.
But when othering is the rhetoric, it's easy to see people as lesser. From there it's not far to get to inhumane treatment. Especially when we believe they would do it to us. But we should be better.

At 45, 24 does seem young to me at first glance. But then I remember who I was at 24. A husband. A father. A war veteran. And I remember my own parents who are 70+ see me as a young man. Practically a kid. And I realize, it's all relative.

Most of the people that "voted for this" didn't vote for this. They were swayed by propaganda telling them they were being invaded by dangerous men and all of our money was going to a foreign war, and God's chosen were being attacked and runaway inflation was making prices skyrocket.

I agree that we should be taking better care of our own. However, do you believe that there are large swaths of people that would immigrate to the US but are held back by our immigration laws? Or that they don't include builders and doctors and educators? Is it the same when people change states?

I don't mind the vanity projects like Blue Origin and SpaceX, but more museums, concert halls, and University science wings would definitely be more appreciated than crypto scams, meme edgelords, and the dismantling of government entities to eliminate oversight
