I'm halfway through Moby Dick, and I wanted to say I think it is a really good and inspired story. I really enjoy how inventive Melville is with the structure of the narrative, how he plays into a nonlinear approach and how he goes from a narrative driven experience, to chapters focused on-

Since I have been getting into a lot more fantasy novels recently, anyone has any good recommendations?
I really adore character driven stories that focus on flawed people (a lot of my favorite stories focus on this heavily,) and stories with a strong thematic through line!

Mistborn is a pretty great fantasy story! I really liked Vin as a protagonist a lot. I think she has a pretty fun personality, and I really like how her flaw of mistrusting people influences the plot and serves as an effective character arc.

The action is fun to follow and has a great magic system.

I think the media tie in collection books for The Lord of the Rings series is pretty nifty; and it has overall been a pretty enjoyable way for me to experience the series. I have a few issues with Tolken's approach to writing (particularly with how he handles exposition,) but I do admire the clear-

thatmagicalmagegrandlibrary.wordpress.com/2024/09/14/f... Awhile back I wrote about Fear and Hunger: Termina, I think this is a nifty little review! I have played Masox Mode (specifically as Olivia) since which has changed a few minor thoughts but I think the broader points still apply.
Fear and Hunger Termina Review
Fear and Hunger Termina is a great game worth experiencing if you are a huge JRPG/Horror fan, but it has a few roadblocks that hold it back both as a stand-alone game and as a sequel to the origina…

A short story I keep coming back to and admiring is Markheim by Robert Stevenson, I think it is a really effective character of the titular character that delves into the ideas of guilt and atonement very well. Especially with how the narration laminates on Markheim's distress.
