As in: ´ Who was that nice Black couple we met at your party last night’. Posting about the ´microagressions’ and other comments we receive being Black bodies in mid-Atlantic White cultural spaces.
While being the only Black couple in the room, we get targeted by a well meaning couple who feel it is their responsibility to make sure we feel ´included’ and then proceed to talk about their children’s sports participation level and how they run from match to match each weekend. We have no kids.

While at the ticket pick-up desk for a cultural event the woman behind the counter said cherrily to me: ´Hi Malcom!’ I said ´My name is not Malcom.’ She said ‘Oh, you look just like my friend Malcom.’ I said ´No Malcom here.’
