Hi,

I'm Rob. And I am, in fact, *that* human.

Let's start with what I do
I make things like this:
@burrito.space

fyi: something broke with intent to ship on the twitter feed (not sure how much you care, because twitter, which is understandable)

x.com/intenttoship...

something something escape characters.
Intent To Ship on X: "Blink: Intent to Ship: The" / X

What Mango/Lychee tells its users about AI vs what the CEO tells everyone on linkedin...

I hate it here.

On October 21st Lychee Slicer announced they are now selling AI Generated 3D models in an attempt to take money away from real artists. The AI generator is trained on on real models from real artists. Help us boycott and spread awareness.

Hot UX Take: using "number of clicks" as a primary metric for a thing's usability is a terrible idea.

feels good to have a dedicated spot for my printer, related tools, and filament... now I gotta make another one for the resin printer...

there's a *conspicuous* amount of hype going around about the Makera Carvera Air in the last week - which sure: they've launched a new marketing campaign...
However, three things stand out:

Andor-style lantern - with my own twist, converted from a thing I found on Amazon (still needs a weathering pass, but I'm waiting on Decals first). Link to 3d printed files are in the next comment.

Just once, I'd love to see the entire 40k fandom have a normal one for a day...

Tonight I started making a modification to Chris Borge's ball vise. Before, I had M8 threads in the little platforms next to the feet, but I found that with my gooseneck accessories that had power cords (lights, fans, etc), the cords would get all twisty and swapping them out ended up being a pain.

made some new bases for the helping hands so they fit into the fixture plate. I think the knurling is sorely missed, though.

I made some 3d-printable Toolmaker & Parallel Clamps. Toys for real machinists, sure, but I've already gotten great mileage out of them when doing small glue-ups of laser cuts.

as much as I love the popover API and anchor positioning - there's one major use-case that I can't figure out how to do elegantly: Right-click Context Menus.

for as much crap as everyone gives Electron, I love that in 3 minutes I've got the beginnings of an application running, even if its just a splash page for now. (cc: @norsehound.bsky.social )

it has been 0 days since I had to explain to someone how a Theory in the scientific sense does not mean the same thing as Theory in the colloquial sense.

I swear, if we don't do something drastic to get people to understand science, we're all doomed....

A strip cutter for cutting planks of Balsa or whatever.
(I've since slimmed down the body a touch since printing and taking pictures here by about 10mm, so its not *quite* as chonky anymore).

I wonder why it is that whenever I encounter an asshole on @printables.bsky.social they invariably have a 3d printable knife in their uploaded models...
