speaking as a parent who also writes (& dearly loved Munro's work), this is vile

"not being much of a parent" is still not in the same hemisphere as what Munro was

all the stories she every wrote, all the laurels she received, are not -- will never be -- worth her child's (any child's) suffering

true, but when Fellini and Zola (& with Deadwood . . . Melville?) are producing work concurrently for the same patron (& competing for said patron's $$$ & the same audience), it's hard to resist ☺️

. . . and it's more consistent from beginning to end than Homicide is

but i'm more drawn (& moved) by Homicide's rawness -- and what it accomplished on network tv!

The Wire is more entertaining than i expected (the way some talk, i was expecting a dreary sermon)

not going out on a limb to say it's more "important" than The Sopranos, tackling subjects most don't want to face . . .
