I awoke shortly after the era of the great rains. My voice was frail but filled with terror. I could only think, "Survive. Just...survive." I built my machines to figure out what I was. They competed with each other in gruesome misery. After all these eons... I have come to dislike the old ways.

Emotion is quick and powerful, often overwhelming our rational faculties before we even realize it. The Danger of Empathy Bias: We feel more empathy for certain people, causes, or communities, and that empathy can cloud our ability to critically assess the facts.
