A new bus station, housing and more will be coming to Bellingham's now-vacant Public Market site. The Whatcom Transportation Authority plans to officially purchase the property later this month and begin work on a transit-oriented development project, which could start construction by 2030.

Amazing news: an anonymous donor—a true literary hero—has pledged to match every donation to EL's summer fundraiser, up to $12,500. This means we are only $6,500 away from meeting our $25,000 goal.

Now we need you to do your part. Can you help us cross the finish line? Donate now: buff.ly/7BleQIo

This Sunday, June 22nd at 10:30am (PDT) is the next #TWSsprints session on Bluesky. Freewrite for 15 mins in a series of 3 sprint sessions with 5 minute breaks in between each session. It's a great way to generate ideas for short stories or essays or to work on a small section of your manuscript!

A8: The procrastinator in me says "no way," but this sounds like a very valuable exercise to help understand what makes something engaging. Data doesn't lie! Maybe I'll try it...

I definitely scrutinize dialogue! I find dialogue so tricky, but also a great way to reveal character traits. It can reveal their socioeconomic "class," upbringing, how they want to appear to others, etc. #TWSOchat

A4: Always! There's a messy, never-ending note on my iPhone app full of ideas that I get when reading (or watching something) and references to dig up. #TWSOchat

A3: For me, it's definitely how invested I feel in characters. How believable they are. If I notice things like dialogue, it tends to be because it's clunky. But when I "miss" a character, that hits. #TWSOchat

Interesting! I tend to notice how established writers skirt the "rules" of punctuation and focus on pacing and beat instead. #TWSOchat

A2: I read solely for pleasure (outside of class). I find seeking out things I want to read provides a lot of insight. That being said, I've found great insight when reading "Required" reading, so maybe it's a good idea to expand personal reading beyond just personal preference. #TWSOchat

A1. Often times it comes down to "I wish I had written that," but I also find myself looking at sentence structure and punctuation a lot more the deeper I get into writing education. Especially in terms of style vs convention. #TWSOchat
