I think you're forgetting that Denmark is in NATO.
Trump wants to take over the Panama Canal; Panama has no military. Trump wants to take over Greenland, which is protected by Denmark, which has 9,000 active duty troops -- slightly less than the size of the 82nd Airborne Division alone. What's next? Monaco? Vatican City?
