I think that the power from the overhead line is converted by a transformer in the middle section. This then feeds 2 motors installed in each bogie, their power is transferred to the axles with a jackshaft.

H0. If you are modelling a German theme from the 1950s to the early 2000s, this class is almost unavoidable. There were over 750 of them (211/212/213) in service at the Deutsche Bundesbahn.
