Bingo. You’d think state DHSES and the local OEMs would be worried about alert fatigue, but not even a little bit. We need to go back to the old NY Alert system that predated IPAWS and WEA. Opt in to what you wanted via SMS and no scary alert tones (which were meant for something else entirely)

Agreed, I’ve had to turn off IPAWS alerts and I didn’t want to, but state/county have been abusing the service for items that really weren’t critical incidents. Lots of folks I know have mentioned similar.
