I'm just back from a short break in Paris. Reflections and pics will follow here idc, but my first thought is the travel - every train, including in the UK was on time. I count that as a win.

Rain is a double edged sword for me. On the one hand it saves me from washing the car. On the other, the roof leaks.

A new post class for #nhs is the wrong answer to the wrong problem. If NHS post was properly addressed, and sent out on the date it was printed there would not be a problem. Email would be the correct solution, but if NHS must use post it should at least be done properly. 1/n

I enjoy candlelight of an evening. Candles get surprisingly noisy when they are close to burning out.

I've just cooked myself the best steak I've had in ages. Fried in butter, little bit of salt and pepper. I got it from #lidl. None of your Waitrose rubbish in this house.

I'll say this for trad linear telly - at least they warn you when the ads are coming. On Netflix the ad just appears, no credits, no nothing, usually at a crucial moment in the drama you are watching.

I had vague plans to visit the USA in a few years time for my 60th birthday, but the deranged orange guy will still be in charge by then, so Europe will be my holiday destination for the foreseeable. The food is better anyway.

I've never read any Terry Pratchett. I don't like Tolkien, but absolutely love Douglas Adams (RIP). Would I enjoy the Discworld books? Where should I start? Fire your opinions at me.

Had a very good Indian meal at Purple Pakora #hazelgrove this evening courtesy of my sons. Excellent way to begin my 57th year. Do I have to admit being in my 'late fifties' now?

As you'd expect Midge Ure at The Bridgwater Hall was excellent this evening. He did all my favourite Ultravox hits, plus a few left field choices. Brilliant venue too - could almost feel the hall bouncing on it's springs towards the end.
