Some images taken from the partial eclipse. Simply took these with phone through my £1 2015 eclipse glasses!

Following the workshop, I had an itch to create a burger that made use of everything I had learned on my blender.

That led to this:

Hosted a Blender workshop yesterday to introduce colleagues to basic modelling techniques and basic simulations,

Here's what I made during the demo (very basic, running on my work laptop).

My streak should actually be above a thousand (it broke because I jumped timezones when travelling back from Australia two years ago) but hey ho, glad that I was able to keep up with this.

Printed these in A3 with my new photo printer and they came out so so so well. Also laminated them back to back. Epson XP-970 for reference. Also 3D printed some minis. Once the character sheets are printed, we're ready for the campaign.

One of the maps for my friend's campaign. I made this using @dungeonalchemist.com . The quality is perfect.

Soheb lore time: Once went to a Final Fantasy convention (KupoCon) and cosplayed as Squall (actually twice but the second was a lazy cosplay). Also got to meet Lightning's voice actress and have her say "Destiny is destiny" :')

Here's me playing organising my tripom (triple triad clone) cards.

Give me a single screenshot from a video game that immediately makes you hear the soundtrack in your head.

Would you like some barphi, beta?

Now testing out SDF volumetrics to create heart nebulae inspired by the, you guessed it, Heart Nebula!

Tried to sharpen the cloud structures a bit more and tried to thicken the opaque dust clouds (my computer hates me for this). Trying to minimise my dependence on post processing.

This is the same render but with compositing in Blender. I used the same nodes as another nebula and quickly learned that each render would need its own prescription. This is too saturated and flushed out.

This is what the base render looked like.

There's still a long way to go, but this is a step in the right direction.

This is from my experiments 3 years ago using only 2D abstract layers of nebulae like structures stacked on top of each other. Back then, cycles was no where as efficient. This is less than a <100 hourd of Blender time

Proud of this - I think I'm starting to nail the workflow. A few more experiments and I should have a good pipeline for creating realistic nebulae. At least Hubble-esque ones. JWST level is going to require more computational power. Feedback welcome! #b3d #clipstudio

New experiment - trialling more colour balancing technqiues and stars. These stars aren't blender rendered and are created using more traditional digital painting methods.

Also added a negative fish eye distortion to add some depth.

Boss concept that I doodled in the last hour for the #lenovolegion competition. This is Cosmicam Edax. A crooked monstrosity born from the darkest pits of the cosmos. It blends into nature. Entrapping mages and feeding off their arcane energy. Their faces appear as buds on its back.

3D print of the special telephone box that I modelled came out perfectly! Even with a layer height of 0.28mm.

It took many hours of calibrating the print bed to get here but with was worth it.

This is 1/4 of a render! And I haven't even added stars to the volume! THIS IS EXCITING!

First quick test

A work in progress, made a new volumetric nebula shader that I'm playing around with.

In the mockup version, I've added pre-generated stars from another basic shader + blended in a 2D nebula from an ancient shader that I made.

I still can't push this too far beyond my 1070 but I'm happy.

A TARDIS that I modelled last night for a 3D printing project (stay tuned). Did I need to texture it? No. Was it worth it, of course!

IT HAPPENED!!
November 17, 2024 at 1:51 AM
I am close to 1000 followers for the first time ever... across any platform...

Here's some stuff I've been working on following a big application.

A 3D model of a TARDIS that I'm still working on. Will 3D print and then do some fun stuff.

Some d&d maps using dungeon alchemist.

Had an amazing time at @jodrellbank.bsky.social for our yearly JBCA Symposium. Lovell looking photogenic as usual. Though it was heavily obscured by thick fog in the morning!
