Or the fact that FDR was America’s furthest left president and he won election 4 times. Your theory is historically incorrect.

What you think of as “far left” and far left POLICIES are not the same thing. Obama ran a pretty far left campaign on middle class issues, and he won in a landslide, including flipping several red states. He didn’t govern as far left though, which is why he lost those red states in 2012.

I live here, and I’ve lived here for some time. Like I said, don’t assume.
January 12, 2025 at 12:27 AM
And how much of that actually had an impact? Remember Californians billions they’ve spent on the high speed rail for the past decade that’s gone nowhere?
January 12, 2025 at 12:27 AM
Not true on the first part. And don’t mistake me for others. You are talking to me, not others. Don’t generalize my beliefs with others. That’s what’s causing unnecessary political divisions. Part of respect for nature is understanding that we can, and must, do more. This is what we could agree on.
January 12, 2025 at 12:25 AM
Some of these are LA’s issues, others are California statewide. My main critique was not specifically on Bass, it’s the fact that California state and local leadership have been failing for decades on policies that work. And Bass leaving is almost an exact metaphor of it.

Decades lack of water catchment, even when rainfall has knowingly been decreasing for decades, not able to do controlled burns (for a variety of reasons), no mandatory personal water catchment systems, very few new houses built after the 2010 fire resistant homes law.

I’m not blaming her for the fire itself. I AM blaming her, and other CA political leaders, for not adequately preparing for climate change and having California go through this same shit EVERY year when they claim to be progressive on climate, which is obviously complete bullshit.
January 12, 2025 at 12:16 AM
Our conversation clearly isn’t going anywhere. Agree to disagree.
January 12, 2025 at 12:11 AM
Because it’s not about identity, it’s about policy. They elected Trump because he publicly supported drastic, often psychotic change of course. Dems never campaign to the left version of that. Instead of going moderate change, they need a complete upheaval.

Not entirely sure what the 24 hour absence consisted of, if it was voluntary or she was unable to find transportation.
January 12, 2025 at 12:07 AM
Clearly you’re not listening to me either. These fires aren’t “natural” like they were 40 years ago. And the incompetence and negligence of CA political leaders to accurately respond to these new and increasing threats is worrisome.

Any update on his Israel policies after October 7, specifically in regards to accusations of genocide by NGOs and IGOs?
January 12, 2025 at 12:02 AM
Thanks for wrongfully assuming I’m a kid. But I guess you just like to be condescending, which is hilarious.
January 11, 2025 at 11:58 PM
So political leaders can’t be better prepared for climate change, and we should just accept “nature?”

Completely going against the advice of climate scientists.
January 11, 2025 at 11:57 PM
I did answer your question. Several times. You can go look at my responses for the answer. After 2 years of historical rainfall, 0.16” of annual rain in the past year, the warmest year on record, and a historic dry wind event. Any climatologist would tell her this was more than just a “watch.”
January 11, 2025 at 11:54 PM
Does he have some progressive policies? Sure. But labeling him as a progressive is just simply not true. He is barely left of center on most issues, and his foreign policy is as god awful as Biden’s.
January 11, 2025 at 11:45 PM
Not true. Right wingers, moderates, and leftists have all criticized her. Like I said, stop ignoring people based on who you assume they align with, and start listening to the actual arguments. You want unity? This is how you get it.
January 11, 2025 at 11:43 PM
What? People who LOST HOMES give zero shits? Did I just read that correctly? Are you joking? Have you been living under a rock for the past 10 years with California wildfires and insurance companies refusing to insure homes?
January 11, 2025 at 11:42 PM
Trump ran on big, crazy, conspiracy, right wing ideas, and won. If Dems don’t do the same, but on the left, they’ll continue to lose. “Medicare for all who want it” is a slap in the face to big change. If Buttigieg supports universal healthcare, he should go all in. That’s how he can win support.
January 11, 2025 at 11:37 PM
My main point being, people don’t want slow progress, which is equivalent to no progress at all. While the ACA is better than healthcare earlier, it’s still terrible. Why would people want to vote for Dems if Dems only support slow progress, if you can even call it progress?
January 11, 2025 at 11:35 PM
But that’s just it. Dems, like Republicans, campaign on ideas and never enact them. And there’s reasons for that. Republicans can’t get rid of the ACA because they don’t have an alternative. Similarly, Dems can’t get rid of it without supporting universal healthcare, which most don’t wanna do.
January 11, 2025 at 11:33 PM
See, this is what’s infuriating. STOP thinking that any criticism about political leaders is “MAGA,” regardless of party. This is why we are in this political shit show. Any politician deserves to be criticized. And CA and LA leadership definitely deserves criticism.
January 11, 2025 at 11:29 PM
I did answer it. The fires wouldn’t have changed if she was there or not. This was a very rare event. But LEADERSHIP, especially as the mayor of a major city, is something that requires her to be in person. How about you ask all those people who lost homes, and the firefighters, about her choices.
