Going from Trails In The Sky First chapter remake back to Trail's Through Daybreak 2 Crimson Sin has broke my brain and I just have no idea how to play Daybreak anymore. I can't tell if it's a me thing or that actually Crimson Sin is just too much.

Now they are having a real estate sales contest. Maybe Zero-one is just awful. Like one of these guy is behind an act of terror blew up an entire district of the city now he is just playing petty games for uhhhh the lols?

Kamen Rider Zero-one, do you want to watch two CEOs argue over a flower arranging contest for two ruddy episodes.

Every games media outlet that spoiled that suprise at the end needs throwing into the sun because its amazing and it would have been great to let fans experience it, sure the falcom fandom is infamous for not shutting up about things but still I would have lost my mind.

Trails In The Sky First Chapter remake is a masterpiece and my game of the year. Perfectly adapted and updated with beautiful attention to detail. This was made with love of the original and elevates the game to reach new audiences and for those who have played it before. It's a must play RPG.

Like okay even if we ignore the capitalism of it all. Things happen in the story seemingly for no reason, the protagonist have to be actively oblivious to bits of information episode 14 sees two riders immediately become rubbish so they can have all their gimmicks stolen in record time it's rubbish

On the other hand it seems the next arc is about watching a contest between tech CEOs fight over a company... Thrilling! I don't know whose dumb idea it was to make the first new era kamen rider a CEO but it's an awful idea.

The one interesting thing is that they reveal the terrorist cell is actually a psy op by a billionaire which is like oh okay that works the way this is set up and delivered is bad but like yeah the liberation ideology is being used by a rich person to gain power yeah that scans.

Despite enjoying episodes 12 and 13 of Kamen Rider Zero-One they immediately decided to jettison the plot over the next 3 episodes. Like if you had told me that it had a really awkward time filming because of COVID it might make sense but that doesn't happen till way later in the run.

We talked about the Toni Storm match longer than the match, now she isn't champ I don't know how we will sustain the run time of the podcast 🤣

Another mostly hot show from AEW, love chatting about AEW any day of the week.

Noooooooooo my boy Waz. Literally the best character in the show, the real hero. May he rest in data.
theatrekallum.bsky.social
Okay episode 12 is really fun and I love this detective humangear Waz a bunch best character in the show so far.
theatrekallum.bsky.social
I do find it odd that it got an official release because it's one of the seasons that most clearly has difficulty translating because the main character is supposed to be a comedian but it's as far as I can tell all Japanese puns that make no sense when translated.

Like if I turn my brain off I am enjoying Kamen Rider Zero-one, the designs are really cool and I really like the jingles and theme song or they are just stuck in my head. It's fine overall so far.

It's super wild that the evil humangear villains asks how will the humangears be compensated for their labour and that is presented as evil oh no he was always evil and going to kill all humans. Like the metaphors of this show are a disaster.
theatrekallum.bsky.social
Flipside of this is that it's wild that the origin of the Zero One is established in a film and like I'm pretty sure it won't come up but then again both Build and Gaim has important plot beats in films that came up a few times.

I'll give the Zi-o and Zero Ond crossover movie some credit it does further the character motivation for Hiden via the concepts of Zi-o. It's a mess but one that ultimately focuses on its best idea which is the new protagonist and gives a bunch of context to it all.

Each party is made up of people of different backgrounds and experiences and sometimes they don't get on but they move forward and interact with the world around them finding common ground and pushing for something better. Their allies and the people they meet are all important and worthy of time.
theatrekallum.bsky.social
What I really appreciate too is that it doesn't just have that theme it offered what it hopes is the counter to that, the bond we make with other people and the potential of people to change and the hopes of the next generation. Constantly the people who are told how things should be defy them.
theatrekallum.bsky.social
Yes the after effects of war and the trauma it inflicted on the people is core to even Sky First, hell most of the first 9 games are affected by what happened to Hamel. We see how it shaped the lives of people and how they respond and how it could breed further conflict if a new path isn't formed.
theatrekallum.bsky.social
Okay it's unfair to say there isn't themes and metaphor at play I think my distaste for AI in it's current world use makes me opposed to some of the ways they mix in working class and opression into the humangears but it's a messy as hell delivery of it.
theatrekallum.bsky.social
Oh I literally forgot forcing people into becoming CEO of Smart Brain and managing this deeply evil corporation is literally a late plot line in Faiz isn't it .
theatrekallum.bsky.social
Because I compare all of Kamen Rider to Faiz. It's particularly unfair here cause I think the new lifeforms and the humangears are drastically different metaphors but like I'm not sure Zero One has any metaphors intended which leads to basically a bunch of yikes
theatrekallum.bsky.social
It's almost like what if they made Smartbrain the protagonists of Faiz.
